COVID-19 Protocol Continued…
Protocols are designed according to the guidelines provided by BC’s Provincial Health Officer, BC’s Centre for Disease Control, WorkSafeBC, and the College of Massage Therapy of British Columbia.
Symptoms related to COVID-19 includes fever, cough, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat or pain with swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell or taste, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and/or loss of appetite.
Symptoms may range from mild to severe.
Patients with compromised immune systems should consider alternative care and postpone their treatments.
PRE-SCREENING
Prior to Arrival
All patients are required to complete a pre-screening survey for COVID-19 symptoms and/or exposure, including recent travel history, and recent close contact history. Patients will receive an invitation link to the survey via email 48 hours before their appointment. Patients are required to complete the survey 24 hours before their appointment. All patients will be informed about the pre-screening survey upon booking their appointment, either in person or through online booking system. Note: If the survey is not completed 24 hours before the appointment, the appointment might get cancelled. In this case, cancellation policy will apply.
All practitioners will use the BC COVID-19 self-assessment tool/mobile app to screen themselves before their shifts.
Upon Arrival
When patients arrive for their appointment, they can check themselves in by using the Self Check-In QR code displayed at the reception window, or wait for their practitioner to welcome them.
All patients will be screened again by their practitioner upon arrival prior to proceeding with their treatment.
All patients who visit the clinic for the first time will go through a COVID-19 consent form with their practitioner.
Patients and practitioners with potential symptoms, even in the case of seasonal allergies, will be required to cancel and/or postpone their appointments and contact 8-1-1 for information and support. Inform Gingko Massage Therapy and Health of your condition or test results.
Patients will be turned away if they do not meet pre-screening criteria.
Cancellation due to sudden onset of COVID-19 symptoms and/or exposure is subjected to a $30 cancellation fee instead of the regular cancellation fee, however, we ask that all patients adhere to the cancellation policy so that practitioners may provide treatments to others in need.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
Physical distancing signage will be posted inside the clinic. Both patients and practitioners will keep at least 6 feet distance from each other wherever possible.
Only one patient is allowed to be in the common clinic space at any given time.
All patients need to attend their appointment unaccompanied unless previously discussed with their practitioner.
All patients and practitioners need to understand that physical distancing is not possible within treatment setting, thus understand that benefit of receiving treatment at this time outweighs the risk related to COVID-19. A COVID-19 consent will be discussed among the patient and practitioner.
HYGIENE
All patients will be required to either use hand sanitizer at reception provided by Gingko Massage Therapy and Health upon entry or wash their hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds at the washrooms within the Laurel Medical Building. Use a clean paper towel to open the washroom door and/or clinic door if possible.
All practitioners will be washing and sanitizing their hands before and after each treatment, before and after disinfecting spaces, after handling used laundry, as well as before and after donning or doffing any personal protective equipments.
Both patients and practitioners will, at their best, avoid touching their face or mask without prior hand washing or sanitizing.
Hand sanitizers will be placed in treatment room setting as well.
MASKS
All patients and practitioners are required to wear a face mask at all times when they’re inside the clinic. Please make sure that masks fully covers your mouth and seals tightly over your nose. A mask with a wire over the nose bridge is preferred.
All practitioners will use a new mask for every treatment.
If you forget to bring or wear a mask, Gingko Massage Therapy and Health will provide one for you at the cost of $1.00 per mask. Please note that mask supplies are limited.
During treatment, in a face-down position, a pillow case will be used to cover the face-rest opening. Patients who preferred to have their mask off during the face-down position are required to place their mask near them or inside the pillow case tube to allow easy access when transitioning to other positions. Other position options includes side-lying, lying on your back, or in a semi-reclined position.
ARRIVAL TIME
Laurel Medical Building has a shared waiting area that has physical distancing rules in place. If you arrive early for your appointment, please wait at the waiting area and be mindful about physical distancing. Keep at least 6 feet distance from other patrons of the building.
PAYMENT
All payment is done with a tap system through Square Payment Processing. If pin-pad is used for payment, the device will be disinfected before and after use.
